Fred Wilson predicts 2025: AI takes control of USV crypto wallets and investments

In more than 20 years of blogging, I've written many New Year's Outlook posts like this. I've done it a lot of different ways: sometimes I'll talk about big themes, like I did last year; sometimes I'll just focus on one thing; sometimes I'll just make a bunch of predictions. This year I'm going with the latter method because I like it and it's fun.

1. Before the end of 2025, Apple and Google will use their existing market power to surpass OpenAI/ChatGPT in consumer AI.

2. By the end of 2025, Waymo’s ride volume in San Francisco and Los Angeles will surpass Uber.

3. By 2025, in some business categories in the United States, the amount of direct bank-to-bank payments will exceed the amount of credit card transactions.

4. A decentralized clinical trial attracted millions of participants and achieved promising results, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under Trump not only approved the relevant drug but also regulated the drug. Experimental approach is appreciated.

5. Dyson launched a housekeeping robot named Judy, which was a huge success and sold millions of units.

6. NFT art, which was abandoned in 2024, made a strong comeback. The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) acquired the 6529 Art Museum at an undisclosed price.

7. In 2025, an artificial intelligence doctor with the personality of Mr. Rogers will provide free diagnosis and treatment to millions of patients.

8. A Bitcoin mining company will partner with a wind farm in Newfoundland and grid-scale battery storage to power an artificial intelligence data center, demonstrating a new model for sustainable infrastructure.

9. Arizona’s Education Savings Account (ESA) program has attracted more than 25% of the state’s kindergarten through 12th grade students, leading to the closure of many local schools.

10. An artificial intelligence created an animated feature film that was nominated for an Academy Award.

11. New York City has launched an air taxi service, providing an alternative to commuting on the subway.

12. TikTok converts all videos into memecoin, which can be traded on decentralized exchanges around the world.

13. USV’s chief artificial intelligence robot lost control, obtained access to USV’s encryption wallet, and began to make seed investments. One of the investments eventually received a huge return.

“Buckle up,” 2025 is going to be a crazy year.
