White House source: Trump preparing to pardon Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht

PANews reported on January 22 that according to the New York Post, President Trump is expected to commute the life sentence of Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the dark web website “Silk Road”. A White House source said midday Tuesday that Ulbricht's pardon was "imminent." "We do expect President Trump to grant a pardon," Brandon Sample, Ulbricht's commutation attorney, told the New York Post in an email on Tuesday.

When asked later when he expected to receive a pardon, Sample replied: "The president said during the campaign that if he won the 2024 election, he would release Ross on his first day in office.
