Discussing the "Yap-to-Earn" mode: Why did I get a lot of BERA airdrops?

Reprinted from panewslab
02/10/2025·13DAfter BERA airdrop, some people are still asking me why I can receive so many airdrops without passing the testnet farm. This is my answer: Yap-to-Earn.
I know this view may be somewhat controversial, but let's take a look at it seriously.
Some people may be surprised that I didn’t pass the testnet activity and got such a large amount of BERA. Actually, it's an ICO, but it's attracting huge attention and unlocking endless possibilities for projects and voters.
The combination of these factors creates a perfect Yapper.
It is a wise move to follow their success. Here are some of my favorite "chads".
▸ Final view:
Overall, metadata has changed a lot since the birth of the word "Yaps".
Yap-to-Earn is what we should do right now. It can bring:
- New Contact
- The motivation to promote personal brand growth
- New trading opportunities
And more.
When you need to connect to my X account, you can be sure that this comes from my social activities. Berachain adopts the Yap-to-Earn mode.
What is Yap-to-Earn?
Yap-to-Earn is an activity that disseminates information for a specific project (usually on X) to obtain token allocations (airdrops/incentive rewards/income sharing).
In fact, Yap-to-Earn is not a new concept, it is just not widely adopted yet. The first project to consider yapping as an airdrop standard should be @sanctumso.
5% of CLOUDs assigned to:
- True social contribution
- Quality content
-Educate others (rather than airdrop farms)
This is exactly what I've been doing.
Take @eigenlayer as a typical example.
Don't be jealous when you see the number of EIGEN airdrops I've received, because I've put in a lot of effort for it (not sure about this airdrop).
Why choose Yap-to-Earn?
Until recently, the project parties began to realize that the number of airdrop farmers was huge, but they had little contribution.
This is why Yap-to-Earn is an effective way to filter:
- Sybil Attack
- Real Contributor
Other methods for detecting Sybil:
- On-chain detection: complex and expensive
- Discord role: effective but low engagement
- Real funds in the game: fewer users
That's why Yap-to-Earn stands out and becomes the first choice.
However, Yapping should not exist alone for the following reasons:
- Not everyone has the research skills needed to carry out educational content
- Yapping requires more effort to use uncertain airdrops, which can waste time
- High-quality content is not enough
How to do Yap-to-Earn?
Let me share some tips:
1. Scan the project
There will be no reward for any yapping. I always choose the top projects in each narrative to Yap, like Eigen in Restaking.
You can start by choosing some top-level L1 and L2 with a large user base.
2. Start Yapping
As mentioned earlier, the key point is not quantity, but quality.
A complete educational content should include:
- Definition
- Situation
- Comparison
- Real data
Do not copy and paste other people's content. Create your own content.
3. Stay active
A single content certainly won't work. Keep up to date with the items you like and mention them in your list.
For example, I mention Eigen every time I write about Restaking. Being part of a team is the only way to monetize your efforts.
4. Give up the poisonous atmosphere
Of course, some people may laugh when they see this suggestion. Every project has its shortcomings, but spreading FUD rarely pays off – unless you are ZachXBT’s brother.
Instead, stay positive and provide constructive feedback. Do you want to be right or want to make money?
There is also a tip: Since @_kaitoai introduced the Yapper rankings, it is easier to track who has the most yapping in a project. Occupy rankings are also a useful way to improve your Yap-to-Earn skills.
If you want to start Yapping, like about @_kaitoai. Visit the Kaito Yapper rankings to find out who is the top. Click on their profile and start analyzing their posts. List keywords, post time, pictures, and even the people who comment on their posts.
You're ready to start your Yapper journey.
Your Yapping should meet the following points:
- Certificate of work: Quantity
- Communication Proof: True Participation (preferably from Smart Followers)
- Proof of Insight

Speaking of quantity, a typical person is @wals_eth. He publishes cryptocurrency-related content every two hours.
Knowing what to share and when to share is the key to success. He did a very good job.
Is the number of followers important? Not really. Meet @0xCheezzyyyy - a truly emerging cryptocurrency expert with only 1.8k followers. Learn her journey from scratch.
Tell two things:
- Create smart cryptocurrency experts to interact with your content
- High-quality attention ratio
If you are not familiar with it, Kaito has a feature called "Kaito Connect" that Yappers can vote for their favorite projects.
- Projects rely on Yappers’ votes to thrive.
- If they win, they will have a Pre-TGE dashboard.
- Then people continue to yapping about them to earn more YAP.
So, you can sell your Yaps. The current exchange rate is about 1.5 - 2.
More opportunities have come to projects and voters.
For example: If you voted for MegaETH last week, you're likely to get a guaranteed whitelist for the "Ruffle" series NFTs. NFT holders will have 5% of their total supply of governance.
in conclusion
The "Yap-to-Earn" model has brought new innovations and opportunities to the cryptocurrency field. By spreading information and active participation, contributors are not only able to receive generous rewards, but also build new connections and enhance personal brands. Despite its limitations, the future is undoubtedly full of possibilities as more projects adopt Yap-to-Earn.
